Group faults Yoruba elder over JONATHAN'S endorsement.

A socio-political group, Yoruba Coalition For Buhari, has described the recent endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan by some leaders in the South-West as deceitful, saying that the leaders did not portray the true position of the Yoruba people.

The group made the remark in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Yinka Fato, issued at the end of its inaugural meeting in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Thursday.
It asserted that the so-called leaders had turned the Jonathan’s endorsement into a money-making venture.

The group said the whole world needed to know that majority of Yoruba had made up their minds to give unalloyed support to the All Progressives Congress candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) in the coming elections.

It expressed optimism that Buhari would be inaugurated as President on May 28 irrespective of monetary inducement and other pressures from the ruling PDP.
The statement read, “We cannot afford to be left behind by other tribes who have thrown their weight behind Buhari. The Yoruba are true nationalists who believe so much in an egalitarian society with opportunities for growth and development.

“The only way that the Yoruba could gain from the current situation is to produce a cerebral, experienced and honest leader, who would sincerely fight corruption and lay a good foundation for the true emancipation of a new Nigeria.

“Although we are very much aware of the adoption of Mr. President by some Yoruba elders, the truth of the matter is that such elders are on their own and do not have any authority and credibility to speak for the entire Yoruba nation,” Fato stated.
