The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Adamu Mu’azu, has stressed the need for the PDP’s presidential candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan and his All Progressives Congress counterpart, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) to caution their supporters against violence ahead of Saturday’s election.
Mu’azu gave the charge in a series of tweets on his official Twitter page on Tuesday.

Predicting that the poll would be peaceful, the PDP chairman tweeted a picture of Jonathan and Buhari shaking hands on May 29, the official handover day.

Mu’azu, who also promoted the ‘votenotfight’ hash tag, said the picture was symbolic because “Politicians are friends no matter their party so don’t fight or kill yourselves because of politicians.”

Mu’azu, however, warned the opposition to desist from fomenting violence, noting that the PDP is a peaceful party.

He said, “Our party’s officials, contestants, agents and supporters must never be provoked to violence. We are a very peaceful party. This picture is symbolic because both candidates (Jonathan and Buhari) must hold on to our unity as a nation and tell their supporters.”

Mua’zu, however, expressed confidence that President Goodluck Jonathan would defeat Buhari in the elections because “ he has done so much within four years.”
