We will not Jonathan's reelection bid - Ijaw Nation

AN Ijaw leader and a traditional ruler in Okrikaland, High Chief Dele Daniel-Kalio, has vowed that the people of Ijaw will never truncate the second term bid of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Daniel-Kalio, who is the Fuamakiri IV of Okrikaland in Rivers State, explained that though President Jonathan had done a lot to deserve the vote of Nigerians on merit, the people of Ijaw would support his re-election bid.

The traditional ruler, who spoke while addressing members of the Yoruba community in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, expressed dissatisfaction that some people were trying to truncate the President’s second term bid without considering his achievement within the past five years.

He urged the people of the South West to vote for the Bayelsa-born politician, adding that the President meant well for Nigerians.

According to him, “Some people are out to truncate the second term bid of the first President from Ijaw, the largest group in the country. Anybody who feels that the tenure of a performing President should be truncated should have a change of mind.

“The President has outperformed his predecessors and several people say that the country is safe in his (Jonathan) hands. Some of us have been outspoken on this issue. One has to see how much support he can garner for Mr. President to complete his tenure.”

Daniel-Kalio, however, called on the people of the South-West to vote for Jonathan on Saturday, maintaining that the President had always considered the Yoruba in the implementation of his transformation agenda.
