14-year-old in serious condition after gun accident

A 14-year-old was in a serious condition on Monday morning after he suffering an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to his leg at a residence in the rural area of Douglas near Ladysmith.

ER24 its paramedics found that the patient had sustained a gunshot to his thigh.

It is understood that the teenager was playing with the firearm when it accidently went off.

Paramedics treated the patient for his injuries and provided him with advanced life support before he was transported to a hospital in Ladysmith for further treatment.
