IG redeploys Lagos, Ogun, Rivers CPs

Following a rise in the crime wave, the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, has redeployed the Commissioners of Police in Lagos, Ogun and Rivers states and replaced them with new hands.

Lagos had last week recorded a violent bank robbery during which millions of naira was stolen by bandits who escaped using a speedboat. The police are yet to announce any major arrest in the case.

The Ogun and Rivers States Police Command on the other hand have yet to curb the rising incidences of kidnappings and other violent crimes in their respective jurisdictions.

The new CPs are Ajani Owoseni, Lagos, Abdulmajid Ali, Ogun and Chris Ejike, Rivers State.
Owoseni replaces Kayode Aderanti who is now CP, Department of Operations, FHQ, Abuja.

A statement by the Deputy Force Public Relations, Abayomi Shogunle, on Thursday in Abuja said the redeployment was part of the measures to inject fresh ideas in the security architecture in the affected states.

Others affected by the new postings include Dan Bature, now CP, Intelligence Force Criminal Investigation Department, Abuja; Valentine Ntomchukwu, CP, Admin Department of Logistics and Supply, FHQ; Hyelasinda Musa, CP, Federal Special Anti-robbery Squad, FHQ,Abuja; E. J. Ibine, CP, Port Authority, Eastern Command and Ogbusua Oleh, CP Provost, FHQ, Abuja.

The statement added, “It is expected that the new postings will reverse the crime wave in the affected states, while also strengthening administration in the affected strategic Force Headquarters Formations.”
