THE PAST IS BACK By D-one Ayekooto

    Edited by Adepoju Adeyemi

Chief SM Afolabi was a very close friend of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo until he started conspiring with Former vice President Abubakar Atiku to destabilize Obasanjo's government. There is nothing bad in that politically, if you asked me.
However, coming to equity requires some degree of sanitation.
Afolabi as Interior Minister had supervised a multi-billion naira Identity Card Project which turned out to be a mere display of callous corruption where billions disappeared without Identity cards appearing anywhere. Trust Olusegun Obasanjo, he will never miss an opportunity to take a lawful revenge.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo set up a panel to investigate Chief SM Afolabi and was found to be an uncircumcised fellow. The spirit from Owu has gotten what he wanted. He wanted to press charges which may take Chief SM Afolabi to a compulsory journey of several miles behind the iron bars. The latter begged and begged, even sent Obas and 'Peace Committee' to Obasanjo.LOL, if Obasanjo caught you, begging him is a mockery option. Prevention is the only cure for his anger. It was learnt that, during one of the 'begging' meetings, OBJ was said to have boasted that only death can save Chief SM Afolabi from spending about six summers behind bars. Immediately, Afolabi took the other option, preferring a golden casket to a worthless iron bars and ordinary metal handcuffs!
There was also a man that called himself DSP, Former Bayelsa State Governor, Diepreye Solomon Peter Alamieyeseigha, defender of the Ijaws. There is nothing wrong defending your people. Ken Saro Wiwa did it and even in his death, he was not just a hero to the Ogonis but also to everyone! But DSP, who was also an associate of Abubakar Atiku and a plotter of OBJ's downfall, forgot to take the issue of sanitation seriously. He was caught pants down in London with a lot of Bayelsa tubers of yam. He did not stop at that, he jumped bail and disguised like Bayelsa's First Lady.....whereas he was a man. DSP fell like a pack of cards spent some months in prison when released. The Ijaw man who subsequently came to power believed that DSP only stole Ijaw yam, that is Ijaw's problem not anybody's. He pardoned his fellow brother with impunity.
Later, the king that knew Joseph died and DSP can only escape with Ijaw yams but never with the British law. His past came calling. But unfortunately, at the retirement age of 63 while preparing to install Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson and take a rest, his past came calling, thereby fulfilling the word of the gospel in Luke Chapter 12: "And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, [and] be merry. But God said unto him, [Thou] fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So [is] he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."
Hmmmmmmmm! For SM Afolabi and Alamieyeseigha, their cases are CLOSED here on earth but the lessons are their for their successors!
What option will Buruji Kashamu, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and others take?  There are others like Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida and Atiku Abubakar who will join the list very soon. Don't be too much in a haste. No corruption will torment us again. Buhari is the past that is knocking your doors now.  Do not fear the knocker but fear the consequences of your own actions!
Happy Sunday.
