I can't afford to rest tired Sanchez - Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits Alexis Sanchez is fatigued but is hesitant over deciding when to rest the Chilean.

The €38 million (£32m) summer signing from Barcelona has started in all but four of Arsenal’s Premier League matches this season and has played over 3100 minutes in all competitions.

By the end of December, Sanchez had scored 15 goals but the 26-year-old has found the net just four times in 2015 - and Wenger believes the forward is concerned by his dip in form.

“He's a bit fatigued and in a position where he has scored less. He wants to force his game and then is more involved in physical battles,” said Wenger.

“Maybe goalscoring is on his mind, so he wants to do too much and he wants to force his game.

“I’m tempted to give him a break at some stage. I have been for a long time.

“It's not that he won't let me, I will decide that. It's just that every game now is so important, you always have a hesitation to do it.”
