My husband will not jail you, Buhari’s wife assures Nigerians


Aisha Buhari, wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, Thursday allayed Nigerians’ fears that her husband will engage in clamping people into jail if elected winner in the March 28 election. Buhari’s wife gave the assurance at the Samuel Ogbemudia in Benin, Edo State capital, during APC women rally.
She said her husband was in the presidential race in to sanitise the unpleasant political governance in the country. “For those that are campaigning, saying that he (Buhari) is coming to jail Nigerians, I don’t know what their fear is, but they shouldn’t fear because we are all yearning for change,” she said. According to her, “General Muhammadu Buhari was a leader and he is a leader. He led Nigeria some decades ago and he is coming back now to sanitise the system.
The insecurity in the country, the very bad healthcare system, lack of quality education and other basic necessities that people are lacking, I think they need somebody like him now.” While pointing out that each zone of the federation has their various challenges, she noted that the girl- child trafficking besides unemployment was the major problem confronting women in the South- South zone. According to her, “in each zone of the country we have our peculiar problems and our problems differ.
For me, in this zone, girls-child trafficking should be considered as one of our major problems, though I know there is unemployment. Unemployment is a major factor that contributes to brain drain and also the girl child- trafficking.” She however promised to come out with policies that will discourage and drastically reduce girl child trafficking as well as address unwholesome maltreatment of widows in the South-East zone.
