UN pledges to support Nigeria to achieve peaceful elections

Jeffrey Feltman, the UN Under Secretary–General, Political Affairs to United Nations has said that UN was ready to support Nigeria to achieve peaceful general elections. Feltman said in Abuja Wednesday when he addressed a news conference at the end of his two-day official visit to Nigeria.
“The UN organisation has designed a system to support Nigerian institutions and the success of the general election is of great concern to us,” he said. Feltman also said that UN Secretary-General, UN Ban Ki-Moon, was deeply concerned about security challenges in Nigeria.
The UN official said the world body was ready to support Nigeria to end terrorism by providing it with logistics and training on counter terrorism. He urged Nigerian politicians to honour the Abuja Peace Accord and pursue their post-election grievances through lawful processes.
