Ikechukwu Uche was a 71st minute substitute for Villarreal in their 2-0 loss at home to Sevilla. Having been knocked out of the Europa League last week, Unai Emery’s men repeated the trick to expand their lead over the Yellow Submarine to six points. Uche’s cameo came too late to impact the result, as goals in the 49th and 65th minutes decided the tie.

Kalu Uche was on parade in his side's 1-0 defeat to Celta Vigo. A late Charles goal confirmed Celta’s dominance, and while Kalu Uche was pretty much ineffectual for the entire 90, he did manage the second-highest number of shots in the game, with three.

ITALY

ENGLAND
Moses Odubajo completed an improbable five-minute fight-back by Brentford against Millwall in the championship at the weekend. Down 2-0 in the 85th minute, the Bees struck back spectacularly, with first Alex Pritchard’s penalty, and then Odubajo’s leveller in the first minute of added time. The 21-year-old right-back also completed two dribbles in a man-of-the-match outing.

West Brom travelled to the home of defending league champions Manchester City without record-signingBrown Ideye, and a hard task was made even more onerous by the sending off after two minutes of Gareth McAuley. The Baggies would go on to lose 3-0 on the day. There was a crumb of comfort from a Nigerian perspective, as Victor Anichebe made his long-awaited return from injury, coming on for a four-minute cameo at the end.

Sammy Ameobi was in action for Newcastle, as they came close to completing a memorable comeback against Arsenal. The Magpies roared back after a poor first half, but came up short, losing 2-1. Ameobi completed four dribbles and also put in a shift defensively, making three tackles.

Victor Moses was not fit enough to be called upon for Stoke’s home loss to Crystal Palace. The Potters struggled without their mercurial winger, and went down 2-1 to Alan Pardew’s Eagles. Striker Shola Ameobimade a four-minute cameo at the end, coming on for goalscorer Glenn Murray.

However, the winner for the Blues came from substitute Loic Remy with 13 minutes to play. Sone Aluko made a late appearance with nine minutes to play as the Tigers tried to rally once more. It was not to be though; Chelsea’s 3-2 win sees them maintain a six-point advantage over Manchester City.

QPR are steadily running out of games in which to stave off imminent relegation. This past weekend saw them on the end of a 2-1 home loss to Everton. Defender Nedum Onuoha partnered Steven Caulker in the centre of defence, and acquitted himself reasonably well for the R’s.
