Animal cruelty investigators are probing pictures that appear to show a man beating two small dogs with a stick in a Wrexham park.
A photo was taken in Acton Park, Wrexham, showing a man holding a stick over two small Yorkshire terriers.
According to witnesses, the dogs cowered in fear as the stick came down on them, but they couldn’t escape as they were both on their leads.
The passer-by who took the snap claimed to have seen the man using it to beat the terrified dogs and posted it on social media to identify him.
The picture has been shared more than 4,000 times by people who want to see the man traced.
The man in the picture has light hair, and was wearing blue jeans and a dark top at the time of the incident on Sunday.
The person who took the photograph, who does not wish to be named, said: “He was hitting them like hell with a stick, for no reason.
They were both on the lead so could not get away.”
The RSPCA has since received a number of calls over the incident and have asked witnesses or anybody with information to get in touch.
A RSPCA Cymru spokeswoman said: “The RSPCA can confirm that it has received several calls about this alleged incident.
“We are not a position to comment on this now because this is an ongoing investigation, but we would urge anyone with any further information to contact us on our 24-hour cruelty helpline on 0300 1234 999.
“Calls are treated in confidence.”
