Ooni: Ademiluyi Family Backs Lafogido’s Court Action

LATE OONI OF IFE

As the battle for the ascendancy to the throne of Ooni
shifted to the court, the Ademiluyi Family of the
Lafogido Ruling House of Ile-Ife has insisted that
direct male descendant children of Lafogido and
Lajodogun should be allowed to ascend the
 throne of Ooni of Ife.
While reiterating that Lafogido ruling House should be
allowed to produce the next Ooni of Ife, based on the
1992 and 1994 Ife Chieftaincy Declaration by
Justice Adewale Babalakin Commission of Inquiry,
the family noted that it is ready to provide credible direct
male descendants that are directly traceable to Lafogido.
The Ademiluyi Royal Family declared its total support for
the court action instituted by Lafogido Ruling
House on behalf of all royal families under the ruling house.
The royal family said that it is an aberration for
any ruling house to be contesting the throne of
Ooni with Lafogido after it has been marginalized
for too long, stressing that the 1994 Ife Chieftaincy
Declaration carried by Justice Adewale Babalakin
Commission of Inquiry should be upheld by the state government
and Ife Kingmakers in the interest of peace, tranquility,
and the development of Ile-Ife.
The spokesperson of the Ademiluyi Royal Family,
Dr. Adenekan Ademiluyi, disclosed that the
Lafogido Ruling House had taken their grudge to the
state government and Ife kingmakers, adding that the
court action was meant to stop the matter from degenerating.
