Audu, Oyegun Strategize On How To Save Melaye

Senator Dino Melaye has enlisted the services of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate in Kogi State, Abubakar Audu, to appeal to the leadership of the party to assist him in getting his mandate secured at the tribunal.
Melaye, in the wake of the Bukola Saraki saga in the senate, supported the Senate president against the party and openly called the bluff of the party leadership during the imbroglio.
However, with the tribunals expected to deliver its verdict possibly on  October 10, Melaye, accompanied by Audu, was at the party secretariat on Monday to seek the assistance of the party leaders.
Melaye is locked in a serious legal battle with the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senator Smart Adeyemi for the Kogi West Senatorial seat.
The legal tussle between Dino Melaye and the former NUJ President entered a dramatic climax  when the lawyers of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,  tendered a certified true copy of the APC report on the Kogi West Senatorial primaries in which it was adduced that Melaye did not partake in that primary.
A closed door meeting was held for about an hour and half at the secretariat.
It was gathered that the former governor had arranged for the meeting with the party’s leadership for it to come to the rescue of the lawmaker, but it is yet to be seen whether the Oyegun-led APC will intervene considering the role Melaye played during the selection of principal officers at the 8th Legislative Assembly where senate president, Bukola Saraki emerged against the party’s arrangement.
Melaye was Prince Audu’s campaign director in 2011 when he contested against the incumbent governor.
