Dike calls for caution Eaglets vs USA

Former Golden Eaglets coach, Alphonsus Dike has called for caution in the side’s opening match against the United States of America (USA).
The reigning world champions will open their defence title account against the USA in Saturday’s match day 1 of the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup at the Estadio Nacional Julio Martinez Pradaos in Santiago De Chile.
Dike said though Eaglets have everything to overcome the Americans in the tournament first test clash the Nigerians should not for whatever reason underrate their opponents from the United States of America.
“Of course, the first match against the United States of America (USA) is quite crucial to the overall performance in the championship.
“However, considering the number of quality friendly matches the Golden Eaglets played prior to the commencement of the championship they must have gained the necessary confidence to face the US and any other opponents.
“The US are good side and have moved very fast over the years in man power, equipment and technological development of their youth football programme.
“That makes the side difficult and tough to challenge but the pedigree of Eaglets stand them out only that they must avoid complacency or underrating their USA opponents.
“Eaglets must expect a highly determined and technical side which calls for carefulness but I know in the long run the Nigerians will triumph over the Americans,” said the former Enugu Rangers and Nasarawa United coach to supersport.com.
The Eaglets are four-time world champions and will compete for honour in Chile in Group A together with hosts, Chile, Croatia and USA
The championship runs from Saturday, October 17 – November 08 in the Chilean cities of Coquimbo and Santiago.
