No more killing with impunity in Kaduna, el-Rufai tells residents

El-Rufai
From Ismail Omipidan, Kaduna
Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai, has declared that the era of killing with impunity in the state is over.
He warned that anyone found wanting would be made to face the wrath of the law.
The governor made the declaration yesterday while speaking with journalists at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna, on the alleged killing of a tanker driver, by soldiers.
Speaking through his media aide, Sam Aruwan, the governor, who urged families and communities to live in peace, also warned against any form of attacks by persons or groups in the state. He said: “No more buying of justice in the state,” adding that his administration had strengthened the office of the solicitor-general in the Ministry of Justice as part of efforts to position the judiciary for speedy dispensation of justice.
“We are calling on the good people of Kaduna State not to commit murder or attack anybody in the state. All citizens in Kaduna State have the right to live in peace.
“Henceforth, the new administration will not allow killing of another fellow human being under any guise with impunity.
“If a husband kills his wife, he will face the full wrath of the law, the same thing if a wife or son kills her husband or father, she or he will face the law no matter how highly placed the person is. We will not tolerate any kind of killing.”
“Anybody, who organises any attack on a person or community in any part of the state will also face the law. No more buying of justice in Kaduna State again. We cannot fold our hands and watch such ungodly act in the state.
“Our step to secure Kaduna State has no religious sentiment, favoritism and witch-hunt. If anybody or group of persons has grievances or problem with any person,  report such  a person to security agencies, do not take laws into your own hands. The era of impunity in Kaduna State has gone.
“You cannot take away another person’s life because you have powerful people in government, it cannot work now under this new administration,” the governor said.
